Alleged ex-lover sues Pacquiao for child support

A supposed former girlfriend of boxing icon Manny Pacquiao on Wednesday sued the Filipino sports hero for his alleged failure to financially support their two-year-old son.
Complainant Joana Rose Bacosa, 24, filed charges of violation of the anti-violence against women and children law against Pacquiao before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
The prized fighter, Bacosa alleged, threatened to kidnap their son to prevent her from coming out in the public.
She said that on Jan. 31, 2006, Pacquiao called her upon learning that she consulted a lawyer for the possible filing of charges against him.
She said she met Pacquiao on March 2003 in the City Square billiard hall at the Pan Pacific Hotel, Malate, Manila. Pacquiao was supposedly a regular guest, while Bacosa worked there as a waitress.
She said Pacquiao was very kind to her and that she was the one who would always attended to his services. She said that on April 18, 2003, they had their first date and engaged in a sexual intercourse.
The incident was repeated several times until the complainant got pregnant on May 2003.
Bacosa claimed that she informed Pacquiao about her pregnancy and the latter allegedly advised her not to have an abortion.
Bacosa resigned from her work at the hotel upon advice of Pacquiao, who in turn gave her P20,000 for her apartment expenses.
Before she gave birth, Pacquiao allegedly gave her P300,000 as a Christmas gift which she accepted.
After Bacosa allegedly gave birth on Jan. 2, 2004, Pacquiao would occasionally visit mother and child, then give them P3,000 to P5,000 as financial support.
However, the visits and financial support stopped since May 2004. She said she tried to call and send text messages to Pacquiao but she received no response.
She said it was only on Nov. 23, 2005 in Cebu City that she met Pacquiao again but the latter did not give any financial support for their son.
Bacosa said she got scared when Pacquiao called her last month as he might push through with his threat to abduct their son.
She also said before the Pacquiao-Erik Morales fight last month, Jinky Pacquaio allegedly talked to her and offered her P100,000 in exchange for her silence on the issue.
After the fight, Bacosa allegedly talked to Jinky and asked for the money, but the latter allegedly turned down her request.
Lawyer Victor Rodriguez, Bacosa’s counsel, said his client was willing to subject her son to a DNA test – a move which Pacquiao himself had requested.
The Filipino sports icon was not immediately available for comment.-GMANEWS.TV, with a report from inq7.net
